John Peabody

QURE Healthcare

John Peabody’s work focuses on the leading economic challenges of our day: identifying tests, therapeutics and practices that will lead to better health for patients at a lower cost to payers.  The fundamentals of this approach are to begin by quantifying potential benefits and then extend this to examine real world clinical practice.  At its core this more sophisticated approach means understanding clinical decision making.

Since 1995, John has been a member of the departments of medicine, epidemiology and biostatistics, and health services at the University of California. He is currently the Deputy Director of the Institute for Global Health, as well as an Associate Professor in the Department of Health Services at UCLA in the School of Public Health. He is also the senior vice president and chief medical officer for Sg2, a health care intelligence company based in Chicago that works with health leaders and scientists in the US and around the world.

John has previously worked for the RAND Corporation, the World Health Organization, the World Bank and Project HOPE in China. He also served as the senior director of health economics at Amgen, leading the development of the policy, service delivery, access and reimbursement strategies associated with the global adoption of new oncology therapeutic technologies. In 1999, John was elected a fellow of the American College of Physicians. He started Stinson Partners in 2009, a specialized, technology-based healthcare consultancy firm.
