Adolfo Rubinstein

Dr. Adolfo Rubinsteitn is founder and Director General of the Institute of Clinical Effectiveness and Health Policy (IECS) since its inception in 2002 and Director of the Center of Excellence in Cardiovascular Health for South America (Cescas) of IECS, sponsored by the National Heart Institute (NHLBI) of USA, since 2009. Recently, he was appointed as visiting Professor (distinguished scholar) of the Lown Cardiovascular Health Program of the Harvard School of Public Health. His research focuses on epidemiology and implementation of preventive interventions for cardiovascular and chronic diseases. He has published over 70 articles in refereed journals in the last years, in addition to textbooks and numerous articles and book chapters on primary care and epidemiology. Since 2015, he has been a researcher with the National Council of Scientific and Technical Research (CONICET) of Argentina.

Dr. Rubinstein graduated with honors from the School of Medicine at the University of Buenos Aires (UBA 1982). He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the Hospital Italiano de Buenos Aires followed by training in primary care. He was the founder and head of the Unit of Family and Preventive Medicine and then Family and Community Medicine Services at the Hospital Italiano de Buenos Aires between 1989 and 2010. He graduated with a Master's in Clinical Epidemiology from the Harvard School of Public Health in 1996 and a Doctor of Medicine with a concentration in Public Health from UBA in 2001. In 2002, he received a diploma in Economics from the International Health University of York, UK. He is a professor of Public Health and Family Medicine at UBA and is also the Director of the Master's program of Clinical Effectiveness at the School of Medicine at UBA.
