Alize’s professional interests are in the in the field of disease epidemiology and population health, with a particular focus on mental disorders. She graduated with an honors degree in Psychological Science at the School of Psychology, University of Queensland and is completing her PhD candidature, at the School of Public Health, University of Queensland. The aim of her PhD thesis is to formulate an epidemiological profile of major depressive disorder, investigating the distribution, risk factors and, outcomes of this disorder. She is a member of the Psychiatric Epidemiology and Burden of Disease Group which works on estimating the burden due to mental and substance use disorders for the Global Burden of Disease Study 2010.
