Dr. Alvaro Moncayo is a Research Associate at the School of Sciences, Universidad de los Andes, in Bogotá, Colombia. He also serves as Vice President for the Academia Nacional de Medicina. He studied Medicine at the Universidad Javeriana in Bogotá, Colombia and obtained his Master in Public Health from the Universidad de Antioquia.
From 1977- 1979 he was a WHO Consultant in Epidemiology for Argentina, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay in Buenos Aires, Argentina and from 1979-2001 Chief Division of Trypanosomiasis and Leishmaniasis Control at the World Health Organization. He is currently Associate Researcher, School of Sciences (CIMPAT), Universidad de los Andes, Bogotá, Colombia.
He is Member of the International Epidemiological Association (IEA), Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, National Academy of Medicine, Bogotá , National Academy of Medicine, Buenos Aires and Honorary Foreign Member, National Academy of Medicine of Brazil.
Dr. Moncayo also serves as a member of the DCP3 Advisory Committee to the Editors.
