University of Ibadan
Professor Isaac Folorunso Adewole, MB BS, FMCOG, FWACS, whose appointment as the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan had earlier been approved with effect from Wednesday, 01 December, 2010 by the Federal Government has assumed duty. Professor Adewole's appointment was ratified and announced by the Governing Council on Thursday, 02 September, 2010 and forwarded to the Federal Government for approval.
By this appointment, Prof. Adewole becomes the 11th Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan since it attained the status of an Independent University Institution in 1962, having hitherto been a College of the University of London from 1948 - 1962.
The new Vice-Chancellor was until his appointment a member of Council and the Head, Department of Obsterics and Gynaecology at the College of Medicine. He succeeds Professor Olufemi Bamiro, FNSE, FAS whose tenure as Vice-Chancellor expired on Tuesday, 30 November, 2010.
A Professor at the College of Medicine of the University of Ibadan, Nigeria since 1997, Isaac Adewole is currently a Consultant Obsterician and Gynaecologist at the University College Hospital (UCH) in Ibadan. He is also an adjunct Professor at Northwestern University, Chicago, IIlinois, USA.
