Oscar Mendez Carniado is an Analyst Researcher in the Competitiveness and Health Initiative at the Mexican Health Foundation (FUNSALUD). He holds a degree from the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México. In 2005 he was awarded the First Research Award of the Global Development Network, in the category Health and Institutional Development for the work "Preventing impoverishment, Promoting Equity and protecting the homes of the financial crisis: universal health insurance a through institutional reform in Mexico "written by Felicia Marie Knaul, Héctor Arreola Ornelas and Martha Miranda. Sun investigations include financial protection, health policies and systems, economic evaluation and competitiveness. He has worked in the National Institute of Public Health and in the National Institute of Statistics and Geography.
