Paul Gertler

Paul Gertler is Professor at the Hass School of Business and School of Public Health at the University of California, Berkeley. His research interests include health, education, and labor economics. He has conducted field experiments on the effects of housing improvements on child health, health insurance reform in India, housing for the poor in Latin American slums, pensions for the rural older population, and performance based pay for medical care. He was awarded the Kenneth Arrow Award for best paper in health economics in 1996. He holds a PhD in economics from the University of Wisconsin.
