DCP3 Series Editors Participate in WHO Eastern Mediterranean Regional Committee Meeting
DCP3 Series Editors Drs. Dean Jamison and Rachel Nugent, along with WHO-EMRO Regional Director and DCP3 Advisory Committeee member, Dr. Ala Alwan, participated in the 63rd Session of the WHO Regional Committee for the Eastern Mediterranean October 3 - 6, 2016 in Cairo, Egypt. The presentation by Dr. Alwan provided an overview of DCP3's efforts toward developing a package of high priority health interventions for Universal Health Coverage. Dr. Jamison presented an overview of the DCP3 series, criteria used for selecting interventions for the highest priority package, and an outline of two packages to be presented in the final volume of the DCP3 series: one containing intersectoral and fiscal interventions, and one covering healthcare interventions. The development of this package has been informed by the series of high level policy forums on priority health topics with current and former policymakers from the WHO-EMR region. Dr. Nugent's presentation provided further detail on the fiscal and intersectoral policies for health.
