Gretchen Newby is a Program Coordinator at the UCSF Global Health Group's Malaria Elimination Initiative (MEI). As a member of the vector control team, Gretchen leads a series of case studies on innovative vector control in various socioeconomic and eco-epidemiological settings. Gretchen joined the MEI after working in the advertising industry for nearly a decade. She started out as a member of the Philippines Malaria Elimination Case Study research team, and has since worked on the drafting of background papers on mass drug administration and program management to inform strategy development for malaria elimination. She was also responsible for tracking, analyzing, and documenting country progress toward elimination through the development of country briefings and maintenance of the MEI's Monitoring and Evaluation database. Gretchen has an MPH from Tulane University School of Public Health & Tropical Medicine, where she studied parasitology and complex emergencies.
