Dr. Kelly McQueen has been involved in international health since her second year in medical school. She has delivered care in Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and Central and South America, and has worked for the International Committee for the Red Cross, Doctors Without Borders and Operation Smile. Her recent work focuses on the evaluation of safe anesthesia and infrastructure in low- and middle-income countries.
Dr. McQueen is an internationally recognized expect on the role of safe anesthesia and surgery in global health. She is actively involved in efforts to promote anesthesia education and patient safety in the poorest countries through the American Society of Anesthesiology, the WHO Global Initiative on Emergency and Essential Surgery and the Alliance for Surgery and Anesthesia Presence.
