On October 21, DCP3 Project Director Rachel Nugent gave a presentation on effective policy and program approaches to promoting healthy lifestyles at the UN’s Expert Group meeting on “Fertility, changing populations trends and development: challenges and opportunities for the future” in New York City.
The primary purpose of the meeting was to bring together experts to address questions about fertility change, implications for age structure changes, and other population trends in order to inform preparations for the forty-seventh session of the Commission on Population and Development next year. The theme for the upcoming session is the assessment of the status of implementation of the Programme of Action of the International Conference on Population and Development.
