DCP3 senior health economist, Dr. Carol Levin, participated in a Lancet Commission on Investing in Health (CIH) meeting that focused on implementing pro-poor pathways to universal health coverage (UHC). The meeting held in Bellagio, Italy from 6-10 July was chaired by Dr. David Evans and DCP3 Communications Technical Advisory Committee member Dr. Gavin Yamey, bringing together 22 participants from around the world to discuss global experience with implementing pro-poor UHC.
Participants discussed country experience with progressive UHC implementation for eight countries, and explored how to generate and sustain political will and financial commitment for progressive UHC to ensure the poor are included from early on.
