On Thursday April 5th and Friday, April 6th, the University of Miami’s Institute for Advanced Studies of the Americas hosted the Global Launch Symposium of the Lancet Commission Report: “Alleviating the access abyss in palliative care and pain relief – an imperative of universal health coverage.”
This symposium mared the print release of the report of The Lancet Commission on Global Access to Palliative Care and Pain Relief, and provided an opportunity to bring the world’s leading scholars and experts on global health and palliative care together to discuss a path forward. The event focused on projecting the research contained in the Report, and defining an implementation agenda, led by the International Association for Hospice and Palliative Care (IAHPC). Chapter 12 of DCP3 Volume 9, "Palliative Care and Pain Control," pulled from the outcomes of this report.
