Karen Hardee

The Population Council

A social demographer for over 25 years, Dr. Karen Hardee is senior associate and director of the EVIDNECE Project at the Population Council.  EVIDECE is USAID’s new flagship project, Strengthening Family Planning/Reproductive Health (FP/RH) Programming through Implementation Science.  She is transitioning from serving as senior fellow and deputy director of population and FP/RH for the Health Policy Project at the Futures Group.  Dr. Hardee has extensive global experience in population and development, family planning and reproductive health, HIV/AIDS, gender integration, climate change, evidence-based policy, and monitoring and evaluation. Dr. Hardee has been visiting senior fellow at Population Reference Bureau and has worked at Population Action International, John Snow, Inc., Family Health International (now FHI360), USAID and the U.S. Bureau of the Census.  Dr. Hardee holds a Ph.D. from Cornell University’s Population and Development Program and has published extensively.
