DCP3's Rachel Nugent Presents to the Lancet Commission on Investing in Health

On May 2, DCP3 Project Director Rachel Nugent presented to the Lancet Commission on Investing in Health (CIH) Economics and Financing Meeting at the University of California, San Francisco.  The CIH is chaired by Dr. Lawrence Summers of the Harvard School of Public Health and co-chaired by DCP3 Principal Investigator Dean Jamison.

Dr. Nugent presented on the role of taxes and subsidies in addressing non-communicable diseases, using a tax on tobacco as a prime example.  Click here for Dr. Nugent's Powerpoint presentation.

The Commission's aim is to revisit and update the case for investing in health (20 years following the World Bank's World Development Report 1993), examine today's context for health investment, lay out investment priorities, and make recommendations on health systems, financing and international collective action.

The Commission's 30,000 paper will be published in the Lancet in December, 2013.
