Louise Banham

Global Partnership for Education

Louise is a senior education advisor in the GPE Secretariat where she leads work on equity and inclusion and manages a portfolio of grants focused on learning, equity and financing. She has over 20 years professional experience in international development, mainly country based, leading education sector planning and policy reform efforts on behalf of the UK government and European Union in Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia. Louise brings experience of the private and not for profit sectors to her work. She has managed a range of behaviour change and inclusive school grant programs and commissioned research and evaluation on multiple education themes including political economy analysis; religious schools; private schools; gender audits; in-service teacher training models and the use of ASER style early grade reading and numeracy assessments. Louise was a member of the Norwegian Government formed Expert Group on Disability and Inclusion for the Oslo Summit. She has an MSc in Development Management, gaining a distinction for her research into aid effectiveness in education. She holds a 1st class honours degree in Marketing and Engineering and diplomas in Market Research and Person-Centred Counselling.
