Abstract

Liver cancer is among the most preventable and least treatable of the common cancers. Vaccination against hepatitis B virus will prevent the largest number of cases in the coming decades, but much more can be done to control the remaining risk factors: hepatitis C virus, aflatoxin in food, excessive alcohol consumption and liver flukes.
