Adnan Hyder, MD, PhD, MPH, is the director of the International Injury Research Unit at the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health and a professor with the school’s Department of International Health. Hyder directs the PhD program in Health Systems and is the associate director for Global Bioethics with the Johns Hopkins Berman Institute of Bioethics. With more than 20 years of experience working to prevent injuries worldwide, Hyder is a consultant to a number of organizations, including the World Health Organization, and is known for his work on burden of disease and injury measures, for developing the healthy life year indicator, and building on the health systems approach to injury prevention and control in developing countries.
