Dr. D. Prabhakaran is a cardiologist and epidemiologist with special interest in genetic epidemiology. Until recently he was Professor at All India Institute of Medical Sciences and currently heads the Center for Chronic Disease Control and is Professor of Chronic Disease Epidemiology at the Public Health Foundation of India. He is the Head of the NHLBI funded Center of Excellence for Cardiovascular Disease prevention located in the Public Health Foundation of India. He is also a consultant to the World Bank, WHO and other international organizations and is a reviewer for several international and national journals. He is associate editor of Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health (JECH) and member of the Editorial Advisory Board of Clinical Science. He has more than 100 publications in several high impact journals such as NEJM, LANCET, JAMA and the Journal of American College of Cardiology.
